Well, maybe not cheap but it's for $364 as opposed to its average pricetag of around $500. Not a bad deal when you look at it that way. My biggest concerns are that it sucks so much power and produces so much heat. Those were a given, of course. I'm looking at upgrading in the next few months and I'm really debating on whether or not I should do this. There's nothing that I'm desperate to play right now so it's not that critical, but I just want to be ready for Mafia 2. Currently, it would be bottle-necked cause I'm running dual core. I'm thinking long term. 3 or 4 months down the road if I'm going to buy a new card and I'm debating on whether I should just wait. | ||

That card needs drivers to mature first...else you will get disappointing dx11 performance. By the time that rolls around you may find a cheaper and maybe even a better version on the market... Also another thing to consider...it needs nearly 300Watts of power from your powersupply. I wouldn't use it with anything less than 800 just so you got plenty of overhead for other things. And you'd want a 1000+ watts for two, and modular cables for that graphics card is a not a good idea at all...which means even my 1000 watt powersupply would probably not be a good fit for two of them. But if they manage to shrink the die on the GPUs for the GTX480...that will lessen the power hunger pangs the graphics card current suffers...so waiting for that might be a good idea... Howeve r, that is one hell of a deal...and EVGA has a great warranty. Seri es what do you mean bottle necking? Are you referring to BC2? Edited Wed Jun 09 2010, 04:49AM |

yeah, what logic said. that price will probably be the norm in 4 months, if not cheaper. I don't know what card you've got now, but I'd put that $364 towards a quadcore, mobo, and memory(if you go into DDR3 land). A quadcore would do a lot for BC2 and Mafia 2. logic, I mean his dual core would be a huge bottleneck for a beast of a card like that. |
