Just ordered a new Motorola Surfboard 6120 modem with the new standard of DOCSIS 3.0. While 3.0 hasn't officially made it to most areas, numerous peoples around the states are finding their speeds increased well beyond their paid for speeds. I don't expect my speeds to increase since I don't carry the top tier internet service myself. I just ordered this because I was having connection problems yet again and thought it might be my modem going bad. So, this was a good buy for me in any case.

Anyway, newegg keeps selling out of these things as soon as they get them. So, if you want one, you better jump in there and get it now...especiall y if you're still paying your cable company to rent a damn modem. Lol.

Regularly , these are going for $99.99. Newegg's got it for $85.65 w/free shipping. Time to snatch it up before it's gone again and comes back at regular price.

If you didn't purchase it yet, you're too late. They're already sold out again. They can't keep it in stock it goes so quickly. heh heh.

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed in Newegg I am. I received an email today saying:

"We regret to inform you that your recent Newegg.com Sales Order has been cancelled due to insufficient inventory.

It was discovered that the quantities for one or more items reserved to fulfill this order were either found to be damaged, misplaced, or only partially available.

If your payment has already been processed, you will be refunded the full amount of this order in approximately 2 to 3 business days.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and thank you for your patience and understanding."

Grrrrr is an understatement.

I went ahead and ordered from a company I don't know. They have a good rating on ResellerRatings .com and I saw they responded there as well. Along with having a physical address, they are an actual store based in NYC. The price was better than most, but the shipping costs made it more than Newegg by just over $10. Ugh! *crosses fingers that this new place is quality*

^^That's where I ordered it from. Purchased it through Amazon since they have that wonderful option available :)

So the modem that my cable company has provided me with I can replace with this? My Television cable goes through it also. Any issues?

I have ordered from JR before and I did not have much issues. I wouldn't worry flash. Their prices our reasonable. They have sales frequently so you can find some deals.

Thanks for the positive words about jr.com. I've checked out their website and they have store pics and whatnot. Looks like an interesting place to go if I ever make it to NYC. heh heh. One of the things I look for before ordering from an online store is that they have a physical address. I want to be sure I can drive to where they're at and kick some ass if I have to :P

Amazon charged me, but JR still hasn't processed the order. I hope they get it done this week. My current modem is still acting up. It's just getting too hot and I have no way to cool it down. The SB6120 is well ventilated though. So, I shouldn't have any problems with it.

JR.com just sent me an email saying the item is now on backorder. Funny how it was in stock on their website when I purchased it. Bah! Edited Wed Jun 23 2010, 11:11PM

Okay, good deal. Got the modem. Only 12 days since I ordered this thing ...and it was on backorder...so that's pretty good time, I think.

Anyway, my local speeds are the sux at 10mb d/l max. Dunno if they'll ever up that for this little town. Ah well. I ordered the best service, went up from my 2nd rate service now that I have a decent job. heh heh.

Also, the guy at Suddenlink tech support (Clint) who hooked up my modem is a gamer. He may stop by the website. He's down with mmorpg, but might pickup BC2. If he does, we'll have another good person to game with.
