If we're all going to play this game together, we have to each pre-order the game. This is because the people who pre-order receive 4 additional maps. Sooooooo, those who don't pre-order will not be able to play with the team (unless you dish out additional money later for the Karkand mappack when it becomes available.)
Walmart has the release date as 8/1//11. So, there's no rush to pre-order yet. Walmart BF3 info: [-link-] |

Additional info from the wiki: "Pre- orders of the Limited Edition of the game grant access to a DLC pack called "Back to Karkand", to include four maps and several weapons and vehicles brought over from Battlefield 2. The offer will end when BF3 is released, but leaks from EA indicate that the pack will become available for general purchase after one month." |

heres the first gameplay trailer, theres only a couple seconds worth, looks like I see strike at karkand. graphics look incredable, the textures look real. so it has 64 players, prone, air, land, and sea vehicles. curious how many maps and vehicles it ships with. [-link-] |

This really sucks. On one hand I'm looking forward to this game. But on the other hand I don't want to get burned by another shameless port we were told isn't one. I don't know about how to approach this really, because in addition to this, there are several games coming out at the end of the year that are already on my buy list. |

I'm sure we'll find out all the details in the next few months. I wouldn't be surprised if the game initially only has a small number of maps. It looks like they're going to try selling mappacks to boost their income. While the game will probably be stellar, EA is once again splitting up players from the get-go. *sigh* I'm afraid they haven't really learned anything. Stil l, I will get this game in pre-order at some point, prolly the month it comes out. Lord knows I wouldn't want to wait an additional month and then PAY for the Karkand mappack. There don't seem to be any different preorder bonuses if you purchase from one store or another. So, where ever you preoder, we'll all get the same stuff. I'll be going to gamestop for mine. It's most convenient. |

Ok, here's an ACTUAL gameplay trailer with some decent content. Stupid EA.... [-link-] And... It's primary platform is PC so yay PC! "The Battlefield 3 demo would not contain any epic, awesome multiplayer. It would demonstrate other goals of the series' development team at DICE. It would maybe convey the feel of battle, the potential pain of a shot fired, the impacts of soldiers at war. It would demonstrate DICE's zeal to present "next gen tech" on a "current gen platform," though technically we'd only be seeing the game on PC, its lead platform, not yet on Xbox 360 nor PlayStation 3." Well, that's a very nice trailer. Part 2 on march 16. I've seen enough to get the gist of it though. Good stuff. | ||
